"Time... To play!" opening sample from 'Perfect Crime' comes from Pinhead Cenobite's voice on Hellraiser 2 (1988). The scene takes place on the 2nd chapter movie's final part, when the girl brings to the Cenobite his true identity photo.

Klinik and Vomito Negro and definitely not the easiest EBM bands to get into. Klinik (back in the early ebm days at least) was all about harsh monotonous beats and simple dark melodies with almost no pop hooks at all, whereas Vomito Negro operated somewhere near the border between ebm, industrial and ambient. So, what do you get when you mix these two bands? One of the coldest and most desolate ebm releases ever of course!

After the weak first album Insekt really found their own sound here. Most of the songs rely almost entirely on monotonous and angry beats that pound relentlessly on their place without really going forward, fused with cold and noisy melodies that drift above the beats. Vocals here are just distorted screams, there isn't any actual singing. All this creates a soundscape of intense pressure and STRESS, like being crushed under million tons of icy water in the cold black void of the northern sea.

So yeah, this is definitely not an easy album to listen to, but if you are in a mood for this type of music, this is one of the best releases to get. Also miraculously even with all the extremety of the album, many of the songs remain very danceable. Murder, Perfect Crime and Another Bacteria are the standout tracks here and there really isn't any duds. I don't think Vomito Negro ever reached this level of brilliance on it's own and Klinik only rarely!

This is usually the one Insekt album I reach for when I'm in the mood for them. Not sure if they upgraded their equipment or simply learned to use it better, but "Stress" is a drastic improvement over the debut ('We Can't Trust The Insekt'), especially sonically. "Perfect Crime", "Give Me Protection", "Bacteria" and the title track are just screaming to play on the dark dance floor. The instrumentals like "Aqua Death" and "Theme From..." show drastic improvement as well. The juggernaut is of course "Murder" with Mario's crackling vocals, a pounding bass line, and a jackhammer beat sure to send you into fits of spastic dance. This album or 'Dreamscape' should probably be the first you buy from Insekt.
